This was our entry in the RIBA design competition in association with SOG to see The Heath Business and Technical Park transformed into a state-of-the-art Net Zero Carbon environment.
Our challenge was to design a ‘Vision for the Future’ at what will become ‘Heath Park’ transforming a 57-acre site in Runcorn, Cheshire into a sustainable, multi-use and Net Zero Carbon environment.
For any architectural practice design competitions enable a team or individual to challenge themselves and design without the normal boundaries of client objectives, cost, planning etc – it really is about thinking as creatively as possible. In this case it was about engaging with our echo brain and what the possibilities could be. We threw out conservative and ‘done before approaches’; we didn’t win but we learnt so much through the process
Now more than ever before we believe it’s essential to get out of our comfort zones & challenge ourselves, especially when considering future sustainable ecological solutions in architecture and design.
