We photographed this stunning zinc extension as the sun was just beginning to set last summer and the Clients’ dog was inquisitive as to our reasons for being in ‘their’ garden.
We wanted to share how clever a pivot door can be in creating an almost frameless entry point and how the scale & simplicity of sheer glass can work superbly for smaller projects.
This was an end of terrace house that had been sold with planning permission with our design to fill in the ‘dead’ space between the flint wall and the house without taking any space from the garden. Internally we also flooded the extension with natural light with the use of a roof light running the length of the extension
This Victorian house is also in a conservation area & so planning conditions were considerable. Designing in a traditional and yet modern material like zinc by local craftsmen we felt was a natural choice.
The use of outside-inside stone flooring was also a really practical and aesthetically pleasing solution and one we know the dog & the owners love!
