Langley Vale Visitor Centre

fiftypointeight submitted an entry for the architectural competition, to design a new Visitor Centre for the Woodland Trust at Langley Vale in Surrey.
Alongside staff facilities, sanitary provision and storage the design provides a large exhibition space opening out (through shutters on three sides) into the woods at canopy level. A wide staircase down to the forest floor provides an informal external classroom for educational visits. A wide overhanging roof provides protection from the elements, while natural materials ensure an organic feel to the development.
